If we are going to start at the beginning of the process of being a stone carver then we have to go right to the beginning! The unloading of the Soapstone once it arrives.
I import my Soapstone directly from Brazil in sizes ranging from 20lbs to 4000lbs, the unloading takes 3 (super awesome) people and the assistance of a bobcat, the entire process takes about 5hours, with a minor amount of groaning, and usually no humans are hurt in the process! That is a WIN. Although it is quite arduous it is actually one of my favorite parts of the whole process because I love to see all of the stones as we unload them one by one, marking the ones I would like to use first, seeing new patterns, designs and shapes pop out of the stone at me as I unload it.
